Related Product Information for
anti-CFH antibody
Description: CFH (Complement factor H) is a member of the Regulator of Complement Activation (RCA) gene cluster and a protein with twenty short concensus repeat (SCR) domains. This protein is secreted into the bloodstream and has an essential role in the regulation of complement activation, restricting this innate defense mechanism to microbial infections. Mutations in this CFH have been associated with hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) and chronic hypocomplementemic nephropathy (1).
Function: Factor H functions as a cofactor in the inactivation of C3b by factor I and also increases the rate of dissociation of the C3bBb complex (C3 convertase) and the (C3b)NBB complex (C5 convertase) in the alternative complement pathway.
Subunit Structure: (Microbial infection) Interacts with West nile virus non-structural protein 1 (NS1); this interaction leads to the degradation of C3.

IHC: 1:50-1:200
Western Blot (WB) of anti-CFH antibody
Western blot analysis of extracts from rat spleen, using CFH Antibody.

Western Blot (WB) of anti-CFH antibody
Western blot analysis of extracts of HepG2, using CFH antibody. The lane on the left is treated with the antigen-specific peptide.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-CFH antibody
MBS9607542 at 1/100 staining Mouse liver tissue by IHC-P. The sample was formaldehyde fixed and a heat mediated antigen retrieval step in citrate buffer was performed. The sample was then blocked and incubated with the antibody for 1.5 hours at 22 degree C. An HRP conjugated goat anti-rabbit antibody was used as the secondary.

NCBI Summary for CFH
This gene is a member of the Regulator of Complement Activation (RCA) gene cluster and encodes a protein with twenty short consensus repeat (SCR) domains. This protein is secreted into the bloodstream and has an essential role in the regulation of complement activation, restricting this innate defense mechanism to microbial infections. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) and chronic hypocomplementemic nephropathy. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]
UniProt Comments for CFH
Factor H functions as a cofactor in the inactivation of C3b by factor I and also increases the rate of dissociation of the C3bBb complex (C3 convertase) and the (C3b)NBB complex (C5 convertase) in the alternative complement pathway.CautionAccording to a report, Asn-217 is not glycosylated (PubMed:17591618). Another study observed glycosylation at this position (PubMed:19139490).
