The recombinant 2B4/CD244/Fc chimera is a disulfide-linked homodimer. The reduced monomer comprises 438 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 49 kDa. As a result of glycosylation, the rh2B4/CD244/Fc monomer migrates as an approximately 70-80 kDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

This gene encodes a cell surface receptor expressed on natural killer (NK) cells (and some T cells) that mediate non-major histocompatibility complex (MHC) restricted killing. The interaction between NK-cell and target cells via this receptor is thought to modulate NK-cell cytolytic activity. 1. SLAMF4 gene and surface protein expression was down-regulated in CD8+ T cells from SLE patients compared with that in cells obtained from healthy donors. SLAMF4+ effector memory cells produced more granzyme B and perforin than SLAMF4- cells.
