NCBI Summary for Cdipt
catalyzes the formation of phosphatidylinositol and CMP from CDP-diacylglycerol and myo-inositol [RGD, Feb 2006]
UniProt Comments for Cdipt
CDIPT: Catalyzes the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) as well as PtdIns:inositol exchange reaction. May thus act to reduce an excessive cellular PtdIns content. The exchange activity is due to the reverse reaction of PtdIns synthase and is dependent on CMP, which is tightly bound to the enzyme. Belongs to the CDP-alcohol phosphatidyltransferase class-I family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Transferase; Carbohydrate Metabolism - inositol phosphate; Membrane protein, integral; Lipid Metabolism - glycerophospholipid; EC 2.7.8.11
Cellular Component: Golgi membrane; Golgi apparatus; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane
Molecular Function: diacylglycerol binding; manganese ion binding; CDP-diacylglycerol-inositol 3-phosphatidyltransferase activity; alcohol binding; carbohydrate binding
Biological Process: CDP-diacylglycerol metabolic process; phosphatidylinositol biosynthetic process
