The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing GH2. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS450648 kit is based on GH2 antibody-GH2 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect GH2 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, GH2. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Intended Uses: The kit is a sandwich enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative measurement of GH2 in human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates and other biological fluids.
Principle of the Assay: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to GH2. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to GH2. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain GH2, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of GH2 in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

NCBI Summary for GH2
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family of hormones which play an important role in growth control. The gene, along with four other related genes, is located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17 where they are interspersed in the same transcriptional orientation; an arrangement which is thought to have evolved by a series of gene duplications. The five genes share a remarkably high degree of sequence identity. Alternative splicing generates additional isoforms of each of the five growth hormones, leading to further diversity and potential for specialization. As in the case of its pituitary counterpart, growth hormone 1, the predominant isoform of this particular family member shows similar somatogenic activity, with reduced lactogenic activity. Mutations in this gene lead to placental growth hormone/lactogen deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
