Biological Significance
Calsequestrin is a calcium binding protein known to sequester calcium accumulated in the sarcoplasmic reticulum of muscle cells during relaxation and is found discretely localized to the junctional and corbular sarcoplasmic reticulum.
Biohazard Information
This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Immunogen
Calsequestrin antibody was raised in mouse using purified rabbit skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum as the immunogen.
Preparation and Storage
Aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Other Notes
Small volumes of anti-CASQ2 antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for CASQ2
Calsequestrin is a high-capacity, moderate affinity, calcium-binding protein and thus acts as an internal calcium store in muscle. Calcium ions are bound by clusters of acidic residues at the protein surface, especially at the interface between subunits. Can bind around 60 Ca2+ ions. Regulates the release of lumenal Ca2+ via the calcium release channel RYR2; this plays an important role in triggering muscle contraction. Plays a role in excitation-contraction coupling in the heart and in regulating the rate of heart beats.
