Related Product Information for
anti-GRK2 antibody
Rabbit anti GRK2 antibody recognizes beta-adrenergic receptor kinase 1, also known as ADRBK1, BARK or BARK1. It belongs to the family of serine/threonine protein kinases called GPCR kinases (GRKs) that phosphorylate agonist occupied receptors (Pitcher et al. 1998). PKC-mediated phosphorylation of GRK2 increases activity toward its substrates (Krasel et al. 2001). GRK2 mediates ERK activation downstream of the EGFR by acting as a Rho-activated scaffold protein (Robinson and Pitcher 2013). As GRK2 can modulate several hallmarks of cancer by participation in many signaling pathways, it was suggested that it acts as an oncomodifier (Nogues et al. 2017).

NCBI Summary for GRK2
This gene encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor kinase family of proteins. The encoded protein phosphorylates the beta-adrenergic receptor as well as a wide range of other substrates including non-GPCR cell surface receptors, and cytoskeletal, mitochondrial, and transcription factor proteins. Data from rodent models supports a role for this gene in embryonic development, heart function and metabolism. Elevated expression of this gene has been observed in human patients with heart failure and Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2017]
UniProt Comments for GRK2
GRK2: a ubiquitous protein kinase of the GRK family. Phosphorylates the beta-2-adrenergic receptor and related G-protein-coupled receptors. Appears to mediate agonist-specific desensitization observed at high agonist concentrations. Expression level is consistently elevated in chronic human heart failure. Mouse models of severe heart failure have been used to demonstrate that inhibition of BARK1 with a peptide inhibitor is sufficient to increase mean survival, reduce dialation and improve cardiac function.
