Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Small volumes of anti-NEFL antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

Application Notes for anti-NEFL antibody
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects neurofilament, light chain in RIPA lysates from a rat brain microsomal preparation. Rat brain microsomal preparation was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with anti-Neurofilament, light chain (0.5ug/ml). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-mouse secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescence detection system.
Immunohistochemistry: Reported by independent laboratories to detect neurofilament, light chain in frozen human Alzheimer's brain sections and rat brain sections (2,3).

Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and they functionally maintain the neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene encodes the light chain neurofilament protein. Mutations in this gene cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease types 1F (CMT1F) and 2E (CMT2E), disorders of the peripheral nervous system that are characterized by distinct neuropathies. A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome Y. [provided by RefSeq]
