Small volumes of F13B rtu elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Test Principle: The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to F13B. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody preparation specific to F13B. Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain F13B, biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm ± 10nm. The concentration of F13B in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.

This gene encodes subunit B of the coagulation factor XIII that catalyzes the final step of the blood coagulation pathway. The encoded protein associates with subunit A to form a heterotetrameric protein that circulates in the plasma. During the blood coagulation process, thrombin-mediated proteolytic cleavage of the subunit A results in the dissociation of the encoded protein from the heterotetramer. Male mice lacking the encoded protein exhibit mild fibrosis together with hemosiderin deposits in the heart. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2015]

The B chain of factor XIII is not catalytically active, but is thought to stabilize the A subunits and regulate the rate of transglutaminase formation by thrombin.
