Specificity
SFN (stratifin) is a p53-induced tumor suppressor gene which is activated in response to DNA damage, causing cell cycle arrest at G2 phase by blocking cdc2-cyclin B1 complex from entering the nucleus. It is inactivated in breast, lung, prostate, liver and gastric cancer. It is associated with poor prognosis when its down-regulation is observed in epithelial ovarian cancer. SFN expression could contribute to cancer cell proliferation and the development and/or progression of human gastrointestinal cancer.

Western Blot (WB), Immunohistology (Formalin-Fixed)
Application Notes for anti-SFN antibody
WB: 0.5-1.0ug/ml
Immunohistology (Formalin-Fixed): 0.5-1ug/ml for 30 min at RT; Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate Buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of anti-SFN antibody
Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human Skin stained with Stratifin Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (CPTC-SFN-2).

Testing Data of anti-SFN antibody
Analysis of Protein Array containing more than 19,000 full-length human proteins using 14-3-3 Sigma/Stratifin Mouse Monoclonal Antibody (CPTC-SFN-2). Z- and S- Score: The Z-score represents the strength of a signal that a monoclonal antibody (MAb) (in combination with a fluorescently-tagged anti-IgG secondary antibody) produces when binding to a particular protein on the HuProtTM array. Z-scores are described in units of standard deviations (SD's) above the mean value of all signals generated on that array. If targets on HuProtTM are arranged in descending order of the Z-score, the S-score is the difference (also in units of SD's) between the Z-score. S-score therefore represents the relative target specificity of a MAb to its intended target. A MAb is considered to specific to its intended target, if the MAb has an S-score of at least 2.5. For example, if a MAb binds to protein X with a Z-score of 43 and to protein Y with a Z-score of 14, then the S-score for the binding of that MAb to protein X is equal to 29.

NCBI Summary for SFN
This gene encodes a cell cycle checkpoint protein. The encoded protein binds to translation and initiation factors and functions as a regulator of mitotic translation. In response to DNA damage this protein plays a role in preventing DNA errors during mitosis. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2017]
UniProt Comments for SFN
Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner. When bound to KRT17, regulates protein synthesis and epithelial cell growth by stimulating Akt/mTOR pathway. May also regulate MDM2 autoubiquitination and degradation and thereby activate p53/TP53.
