This antibody reacts with the CD62e- antigen (E-selectin), also known as endothelial-leukocyte adhesion molecule–1 (ELAM-1). E-selectin is thought to be involved in the initial interaction of neutrophils with inflammed endothelium. CD62E is expressed on cytokine-stimulated endothelium, but in minimal amounts on unstimulated endothelium. E-selectin is heavily glycosylated. It has a calculated M.W. of 64 kDa, however, the protein runs at 107-115 kDa by SDS-PAGE.
