Ly6 A/E antibody reacts with Ly6 A/E protein also known as Sca-12. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-linked protein of 18 kD expressed on hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow of mice with both Ly-6 haplotypes1. In mice expressing the Ly-6.2 haplotype (e.g., C57BR, AKR, C57BL, DBA/2, SJL, SWR, and 129), Ly-6A/E is also expressed on peripheral B lymph ocytes and thymic and peripheral T lymph ocytes. Studies with the D7 antibody have demonstrated that Ly-6A/E may be involved in the regulation of B and T lymph ocyte responses, and it appears to be required for T-cell receptor-mediated T-cell activation
